HOLLUM, the ‘diminutive’ cargo ship that is transporting our race yacht back to La Rochelle is a staggering 118m long and 18m wide! It also shares its name with a village in Holland. For this leg of the voyage, the yacht has been stowed longways, so from bow to stern, which has meant being especially careful to tie it down properly, as it is more vulnerable to rolling if the cargo ship hits bad weather. HOLLUM cast off from Livorno this afternoon in a light breeze which made us all dream of sails and spray!
Having seen the boat off and sipped two delicious Italian coffees, we got back onto the Autostrada. La Rochelle, here we come!
